There will be more than 19,000 inbound marketers converging on Boston next week for Inbound 2017, the single biggest digital marketing event of the year, and (most of) our team will be joining them. We can’t wait to catch as many of the inspirational talks and instructive sessions as possible (especially the one from our very own Clodagh Higgins) that will help us perfect our strategies for ourselves and for our clients. In anticipation, we look at just some of these, and we hope to see you there.
Our team will be covering as many topics as we can over the four days of the inbound summit, but one session we will all definitely be attending is the one by our co-director Clodagh Higgins. Sharing her secret formula on building a successful inbound marketing agency, on Wednesday Clodagh will look at such issues as company culture, exactly what an inbound agency version 2.0 looks like, and many other insights into growing your business.
Clodagh (pictured) has helped hundreds of agencies through the HubSpot Partner Program and is a constant source of knowledge and advice for us and our clients, so this is one talk you really should sign up for.
Of course, we expect to gain some valuable insights from other speakers too, and will all also be attending the keynote speech by HubSpot founders Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah on Tuesday to find out exactly how HubSpot is developing its COS to optimise the inbound offerings we can deliver to clients.
We want to be inspired too, so we are all looking forward to the keynote speech by former First Lady Michelle Obama on Wednesday, while our interest was also piqued in a different way by the thought of what WWE star John Cena will have to say on Thursday.
Monday is all about Partner Day and getting acclimatised, but by Tuesday we will be hitting the floors and forums to check out what other leading agencies are doing and to gather tips on improving our services. A discussion on branding, with the great title of Is Your Baby Ugly, a session on authentic networking (without being an asshole), a back to basics look at technical SEO, and a talk on sales coaching are among the events we plan to attend.
SEO is of course one of the big topics we specialise in, with the need to be found in search vital in the attempt to stand out from the competition, so we are keen to hear what others have to say on the latest development in this ever-changing field.
We will also be checking out a talk with another great title: Content is Crap, Marketing Is Crap, Let’s Talk About Relationships, which looks at the very real concept that marketing today really just boils down to relationships with the consumer and providing them with the best possible user experience.
The nerd in us couldn’t resist signing up for Data and the Borg: Star Trek Taught Us Bigger Isn’t Always Better, but it’s not just to relive Trekkie days. The subject of big data is becoming more and more important, and it is vital that digital marketers get to grips with what is going to play a big part in strategies for the future.
As mentioned, Wednesday is Clodagh’s big day but we will also be going to a talk giving tips on delivering what your client needs, rather than what you want to sell them, how to improve your video content (so important considering the rise in popularity of this form of content), and the free HubSpot tools that can really help your clients grow. You can find more on this subject here.
Also, we will hear about one of the big topics of today in inbound marketing and content creation: topic clusters. Check out a recent blog from us on this subject that will change the way you think about SEO, keywords and search ranking.
While we have a full schedule and will be very busy, we also ironically want to catch an interesting talk called Leadership Adventures in Love and Humor, which will look at the importance of having a good work/life balance, as well as the need to have a sense of humour in business.
Thursday sees us attending what will be a very entertaining and informative talk by Pixar’s Dr Ed Catmull on creativity, one we are really looking forward to as we are big fans of his view on using storytelling in content creation.
Taking over the world may not be our ultimate goal, but with clients in countries across the globe, we do want to hear from others who have branched out to an international client base, and World Domination: Kick Start Your International Marketing Strategy should be interesting in that respect.
After that, we will also be hearing about solving for clients rather than pitching what we want them to do, and the ways in which we can become even more effective HubSpotters, before we head for the aforementioned John Cena talk.
These are just a few of the talks we will be attending, and there will be a lot to take in, but we are really looking forward to the event and coming home with great new ideas that will help us improve the services we provide to our clients.
You know where we will be, so we hope to see you there, but if we don’t manage to meet in the crowds, keep an eye on our blog for news on the big takeaways we will be getting from Inbound 2017.
